In Bolton you do not need to make a separate claim for free school meals if you are already in receipt of or have applied for housing benefit or help with your council tax. The local authority uses the information and evidence you have already provided to confirm your entitlement to free school meals. If you have not received any confirmation from the local authority, please contact Bolton Council for further advice.

From September 2014 the Government has confirmed that ALL pupils in Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 in a maintained school (not independent) will be eligible to have a Free School Meal.  This will be called a Universal Free School Meal.

Taste & The Olive Tree Primary School are both HMC Certified.

The Halal Monitoring Committee (HMC) is an independent, non-profit, registered charity organisation whose main aim is to certify the production of genuine Halal food. HMC complies with the UK Laws for food production, as well as Islamic dietary compliance Laws.

HMC promotes animal welfare, issues of food safety, hygiene and quality in compliance with UK Law and within the teachings of the Islamic faith.

HMC works with companies who are involved in the production and supply of Halal food, to independently certify all products to provide assurance to the Muslim community that all food meets the high standards of Halal.
